Today was a wet and stormy day in Auckland. So what was more fitting than to have Auckland’s Indian community coming together for Diwali, or Festival of Lights, to brighten up the day.

Highlights of the festival included Indian food stalls, traditional and contemporary music and dance, and even a Bollywood dance competition. As you would expect, it was a festival of smells, colours, and booming bhangra music. Bless him, the prime minister even popped by to kick off proceedings.

The highlight for me, was a family of, I think, Pacific Islanders singing what seemed like hymnal music while their father strummed along on his guitar. They had nothing to do with the festival but jt was heavenly.

Another good Auckland day,

Two Hoomans – happy (The Spaniel had a late supper, and wasn’t so happy…)
